PAO YUE-KONG LIBRARY     

Executive Officer (Access Services) (Ref. 18113001-E)

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a) provide administrative support to the Senior Assistant Librarian (Access Services) to manage the Library’s access services and enhance the spatial environment and physical facilities in the Library premises;

(b) assist in reviewing, compiling and implementing policies and procedures to ensure operational effectiveness of the Library’s access services;

(c) coach and supervise a team of support staff to provide friendly front-line services and manage the book stacks for printed resources and the circulation;

(d) co-ordinate the logistics and manpower planning for collection shifting, weeding or automation projects such as self-checking for the Library’s Book Collection;

(e) investigate, resolve and respond to suggestions, complaints or special requests pertaining to access services and the enforcement of relevant Library Regulations; and

(f) perform any other duties as may be assigned by the University Librarian or her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a) a recognised University degree with at least five years of administrative or supervisory experience;

(b) an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese; and

(c) good analytical, organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to work independently within a team.

Shortlist candidates will be invited to sit for a written proficiency test.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.  Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
