Job Description

OFFICE OF THE ASSOCIATE VICE-PRESIDENT (MAINLAND DEVELOPMENT)

The Office of the Associate Vice-President (Mainland Development) is committed to strategic planning and development of the University’s academic and research initiatives in China, and promoting its image across the region. The Office acts as a central coordinating unit that establishes links with the mainland and administers the mainland branch offices of the University with the aim of strengthening the effective management of the mainland-related affairs of the University.

The appointee is required to provide executive assistance to the daily operations of the Office. Duties include (i) coordinating and receiving delegations from China, Taiwan and Macau; (ii) coordinating and executing programmes/projects for academic exchange and cooperation with mainland universities; (iii) organising promotional activities for the University; (iv) exploring collaboration opportunities; (v) writing various official documents and reports; (vi) managing and updating the social media channels (including Sina Weibo, WeChat, etc); (vii) performing any other duties as assigned. Occasional traveling to China is required.

Applicants should possess a recognised Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of work experience in administration or public relations areas. Knowledge of and experience in mainland-related affairs, university administrative work and public relations would be advantageous. Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua) is essential. They should also possess strong communication, organisation and execution capabilities; be creative, proactive, mature and able to work independently. Good computer skills, interpersonal skills and ability to work under tight schedule are also required.

Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of one year. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to performance review, mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
