Project Title: Optimal Use of Internet of Things (IoT) Technology to Prevent Failure (Collapse) of Temporary Support System in Construction

Responsibilities:

• Develop, under the guidance of the project Principal Investigator and Co-Investigators, a system adopting Internet of Things (IoT) technology to monitor the performance of temporary support structures in construction;
• Develop numerical modelling skills to evaluate the structural performance of falsework systems in building demolition and construction work;
• Carry out site tests in real-life conditions for the validation of the developed technology; and
• Assist in supervising the work of the project Research Assistant in carrying out research and development work related to application of IoT technology in civil engineering and construction.

  Requirements:

• Graduate with a recognized first-degree or a higher degree in civil, electrical, electronic engineering or related disciplines from a local or overseas university;
• 5 years of post-graduate study and/or working experience, preferably in the fields involving applications of IoT technology and/or latest innovative technologies;
• Good modelling & simulation skills and familiar with some of the following software: SAFE, ETABS, SAP2000, PLAXIS, Autocad, Revit, Solidworks, Matlab, MentorGraphics PADS, etc.;
• Knowledge and experience in some of the following computer programming languages: Java, C/C++, S-Plus, SQL, VBA, etc.;
• Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese;
• Strong team spirit and interpersonal skills; and
• Independent, responsible, aggressive and outgoing character.
