Job Description

DEPARTMENT: Executive MBA Program – Hong Kong

GENERAL SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of Recruitment and Admissions, the Assistant Director, Recruitment and Admissions, works within the admissions team to: 1) develop and execute marketing and sales strategies and plans in Asia to recruit the highest caliber students to Chicago Booth’s Executive MBA Program; 2) analyze and evaluate applicant pool to select the highest caliber students for the program; 3) raise awareness of Chicago Booth in Asia; 4) cultivate effective relationships with corporate partners, alumni and students to ensure a stream of quality prospective Executive MBA students.

The best candidate should be comfortable giving a presentation in front of a crow and also enjoy a one-on-one conversation to help people through the decision making journey and getting them to make the right decision. He / she should be confident talking to professional people from all different cultures and backgrounds.  At the same time, he / she should be able to manage the pressure and constant travelling especially during the recruitment period.  Furthermore the candidate has to be hard working, diligent and has a high sense of responsibility.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Student Recruitment and Admissions

  1. Manage and respond to queries from prospective candidates from various channels; follow them through from initial contacts through to admission and matriculation. The majority of the time in this role is spent on this activity.
  2. Work with the Director to create a comprehensive communications plan to keep inquiries and prospective students engaged through all phases of the recruitment process.
  3. Represent Chicago Booth at the Executive MBA Program info sessions in Asia which includes presenting, running a Q&A, managing alumni/student panels and coordinating on-site logistics.
  4. Follow students through the admissions and application process – ensuring a seamless and positive experience.
  5. Review and evaluate applications and provide recommendations to the admissions committee.


Marketing

  1. Work with the Director to create a marketing plan and content to maximize the benefit of our advertising budget through the use of direct mail campaigns, online channels, search engines, print media and other publications.
  2. Develop strategies to engage alumni, students, corporate partners and other referral sources to cultivate a quality pipeline of prospective Executive MBA students.
  3. Research competition, market trends and best practices to provide useful insights to marketing and admissions strategic planning.
  4. Work with external agencies, other campuses and the central marketing team to drive quality content regularly to social media platforms and website with the goal to achieve greater awareness if Chicago Booth in Asia.


MEASUREMENTS OF SUCCESS:

  1. Meet class enrollment targets, including number and quality level of students.
  2. Increase quantity of qualified prospects, applicants and admitted students.
  3. Increase quality of applicant pool and admitted class (academic, diversity-geographic, gender, industry and job function).
  4. Positive working relationships with other team members in Hong Kong, Singapore, London and Chicago.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. First degree required; an MBA or a Master’s degree is desirable.
  2. A minimum of 7 - 10 years of substantive and relevant work experience with progressive responsibility. Experience in higher education or other high-end sales and/or marketing in Asian context is an advantage.
  3. Track records of meeting sales or recruitment targets.
  4. Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills in English.
  5. Customer-service orientated, a strong team player, strong interpersonal skills and strong ability to engage various stakeholders from different cultural backgrounds.
  6. Enjoy engaging with people one on one, either by phone or in person.
  7. Proficient with MS Office and database management.
  8. Proficiency in Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin) or other Asian language would be an advantage.
  9. Willingness to work evenings and weekends and to travel extensively.
  10. Must be able to work legally in Hong Kong on a permanent basis.
  11. Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as presentation skills, in English.


SALARY AND BENEFITS:
The salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience. In addition to the salary, Chicago Booth offers an attractive benefits package including 20 days holiday per year – prorated (excl. Hong Kong Public Holidays), MPF contribution and private medical insurance.
