What’s the job?

It is our job to provide a picture – we identify what pieces of the information jigsaw are easily available and we get them. We then decide what pieces we are missing and go out and find them.  We never get them all, of course, but we gather enough to make the picture become real enough to make informed decisions.  Our international clients (including top 4 accountancy firms, oil majors, law firms, international insurers) would operate in an information vacuum without us.

JOB SCOPE

• Undertake research projects on companies in various industries (shipping, trading, mining, finance, construction, individual search, etc.)

• Make phone enquires with local sources around the world.

• Communicate with clients to provide timelines and project updates on a consistent basis.

• Write and submit detailed and accurate reports on projects in English/ Chinese within specific and commercially sensitive time periods.

• Maintain internal databases and explore new sources.

• Single-day or overnight travel on work-related matters.

• Occasional after hours participation in networking activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree level or equivalent professional qualification.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILL

• An enquiring mind, allied with logical thinking and deductive reasoning skills.
• Be comfortable with phone enquiry communications.
• Language - Mandarin and Strong to excellent written and spoken English.
• Ability or potential to build strong relationships with customers, sources and contacts across the sector. Confident in dealing with senior commercial figures.
• Outward-going personality & well presented.
• Ability or potential to work independently on projects, with deadlines and with real-world significant commercial risks.

EXPERIENCE

• Knowledge in credit research is highly preferred.
• Preferably with 2 to 4 years of experience in accounting/auditing; media or journalism; shipping background with commercial, client-facing experience such as broking, chartering etc. Applications from other relevant sectors such as risk management will be also considered.
• With valid Hong Kong working visa is an advantage.
  
  

On-the-job training, visa extension, medical insurance, competitive remuneration, study advancement support will be offered. Work on weekdays.
