Job Description

 

The SSAA is working pro-actively with current and potential self storage facility owners, investors, and suppliers to achieve strength in unity as a community for long term growth of the industry. Through our membership services, we currently engage our members by way of education, information, marketing, events, advocacy, and networking.

This is a very excellent opportunity to continue growing your strengths and get well known in a fast growing industry. In this position, you will:

  • Have a regional role working with companies throughout Asia
  • Manage your own projects
  • Work within a team but independently
  • Have input into the biggest association activities including for membership growth, community engagement, and program creation

We are seeking a proactive, confident, and engaging Business Development and Relationship Manager. The position is very management oriented as you will gain exposure throughout Asia and work independently with executives in multiple languages, and on different projects. As a small organization, the opportunity for you is to grow your skills, do exciting work in multiple disciplines across the region, work directly with decision makers, and have creative freedom to grow the industry body and community through value driven engagement. Regional travel may be entailed in the position.

You must be entrepreneurial and small business minded (but not necessarily come from that field). As a regional association, we work with our members and rest of the potential self storage community to create programs to engage them which turns into sales. Therefore, you will be able to connect the dots about how best to serve our members, create value, and sell to them based on this value. Projects may not always exist so you will need to create this value with our members and through our programs. You will have vision, be able to connect great with people, have strong emotional intelligence, and be assertive to lead in relationships and program creation.

The candidate must:

  • Be fluent in English, Putonghua, and Cantonese
  • Be a strong and confident communicator
  • Be a confident and strategic leader in connecting dots for potential relationships, programs and engagement to create value
  • Be assertive with great emotional intelligence to guide relationships and programs
  • Must see potential for sales creation from nothing
  • Be proficient in sales and relationship management techniques
    • Cold Calls/Warm Calls/Networking
  • Be able to strategize, plan, and work in a timely and focused manner
    • Plan, strategize, and coordinate with other members on engagement activities
  • Be creative for value based idea generation
    • Continuation of current and creation of new engagement programs
  • Work with other departments to boost engagement
  • Be proactive in order to work on your own and as a team
  • Be capable of solving problems and finding better solutions for various implementations
  • Be comfortable in handling general administrative duties

You will be working with the team to engage all our members in the region, particularly as it relates to country specific activities and engagement so planning and strategy will be essential. This entails communication with our members as well as designing specific programs for and with them which will include online research and creating country specific reference documents.

As your knowledge and skill grows, your breadth of activities and sole ownership of projects will also grow. This is an exciting opportunity to fully engage with your skills as well as learn many more while being a part of a very fast growing industry in Asia.
