Job Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION/POSITION SUMMARY:

Based in Hong Kong, the Chinese Editorial Manager works closely with the rest of the marketing team and art departments to meet the increased need for localization of marketing and sale materials, and to edit and manage the Chinese content on christies.com.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Duties include but are not limited to the following):

Write and edit original Chinese copy for auction catalogues, marketing brochures, advertisements, advertorial, web features, special themed booklets and exhibition elements for global marketing and specialist departments.

Coordinate with external language services and freelance translators/writers to prepare captions, lot descriptions, and other Chinese content for christies.com.

Review and proofread translations for global specialist departments, Private Sales, Business/Client Development and Legal.

Maintain a close and effective working relationship with various departments to understand their language needs, and to facilitate communication and sharing of glossaries or required information between the departments and external translators/writers.

Project management and coordination for various ongoing projects, campaigns and sales. Actively manage workflow across departments and regions.

• Facilitate content for monthly eNewsletters and other marketing communications activities.

 

QUALIFICATION & REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor degree in translation, communication, journalism, Chinese, English or other related disciplines.

A minimum of 5-8 years of editing/copywriting experience in publishing, research, advertising agencies, public relations, journalism or art administration.

Native proficiency in Mandarin and English essential, Cantonese desirable.

• Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills.

• Proven agency management and project management skills.

Interpersonal skills, organisational skills, time and budget management critical.

Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize, capable of working with tight deadlines and under pressure.

Strong follow-up skills with attention to detail essential.

Team player attitude and will thrive in a high delivery and performance driven environment.

• Interest in art is an advantage.

• Experience in similar roles with galleries, museums, art fairs highly desirable.
