Department of Biology

The appointee is expected to provide administrative and secretarial support to all aspects of work of the Department. Duties include assisting the Head of Department in a secretarial role to coordinate day-to-day appointments, organising daily itinerary, performing administrative duties related to undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and research related matters, handling financial and personnel matters, serving as secretary for departmental committees, arranging departmental activities, assisting in the preparation of various annual reports plus any other duties as assigned.

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree with at least seven years of relevant work experience, preferably in tertiary institutions. Effective communication skills with excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua) is essential. He/She should have good interpersonal and organisational skills. Proficiency in computing applications, particularly MS office and Chinese work processing, is required.

Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
