Overall Accountability:

Provide legal support to minimize legal risks in business operations and new ventures in the region. Responsible for enhancing the compliance of all business units in the Asia Pacific region and promote awareness of relevant legal requirements.

The Role:

• Provide legal support to TU’s strategic planning. Identify and minimize pertinent risks involved
• Provide legal support and advice on contract with new businesses in the region and assist in setting up new entities for TU to support business expansion
• Provide legal support to management and business units in the region to ensure the business operations comply with local laws and regulatory provisions
• Review and act as gatekeeper for all agreements in accordance with corporate requirements
• Coordinate and liaise with privacy commissioners, monetary authorities, banking associations and regulatory authorities in the region for all business activities 
• Act as liaison and point of communication between local sites in the region and Corporate Legal team including implementation of any corporate initiatives relevant to any business activities and corporate governance
• Manage outside counsel in the giving of legal advice and act as the gatekeeper between outside counsel and business units
• Manage Compliance team on all aspects in providing legal and compliance support to business operations in the region
• Enhance corporate governance in the region by organizing training and raising awareness of staff to promote compliance culture
• Oversee all internal and external compliance audits in the region particularly in Hong Kong

Your Skills:

• Law Degree acquired from an Esteemed University
• 3 – 5 years of experience within reputable Law Firms or Multinational Businesses
• Experience in contract drafting is a must
• Experience in dealing with outside council is a plus
• Knowledge in data privacy compliance and audit is a plus
• Knowledge in IP & privacy law is a plus
• Strong interpersonal skills & commercially savvy
• Able to work independently to solve problems
• Fluency in English and Cantonese is a must
