Job Description
To support the government’s policy of increasing the use of gas-fired power generation longer term, CLP is actively pursuing new sources of gas supply. One potential source is the direct import of LNG through the proposed development of the Hong Kong Offshore LNG Terminal that plans to utilize a Floating Storage and Regasification (“FSRU”) vessel which will be berthed at an offshore jetty with subsea pipelines being used to transport gas to end users/power plants.
Reporting to Project Manager, the appointee will be responsible for the following duties:
Key responsibilities include the following:
- Provide civil and structural engineering support to the Project Development Team;
- Assist Project Manager in coordination of technical issues associated with Terminal, Marine and Topsides activities
- Provide input to the key engineering deliverables required for the project including site investigation, front end engineering design (FEED) and detail engineering, construction, commissioning and provide assistance in resolving any technical issues that may arise in the course of the development and implementation of project;
- Ensure effective project management of responsible projects’ activities including the supervision of consultants, contractors, material and resources planning and utilization;
- Participate in design, engineering, constructability and risk assessment workshops to ensure process safety measures are incorporated into the design of the project’s facilities.
- Ensure that all works are properly managed to meet regulatory requirements, Company Safety Rules and safety, health, environment and quality standards
- Liaise with CLP’s partner and support interface meeting with HKSAR Government Departments, and other key stakeholder
Requirements:
- A recognized university degree or equivalent in Civil or Structural Engineering discipline, with minimum 8 years relevant experience and proven track record at a responsible position in executing / delivering large scale industrial projects;
- Professional qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering discipline from HKIE or equivalent;
- Strong track record of project management capability to manage complex civil engineering projects;
- Conversant with all statutory and regulatory requirements and industry code of practices related to design and offshore construction activities in Hong Kong;
- In-depth knowledge on offshore construction technology, methodology and associated quality control / assurance techniques. Proficiency in the design and engineering of steel structure, heavy lifting, rigging and piling works;
- Preference will be given to candidates with prior hands-on experience in offshore construction projects and / or gas projects;
- In-depth knowledge in personnel safety, safe systems of works and process safety;
- Good command of English and Chinese for day to day communication with various stakeholders, consultants, and contractors. The ability to speak Cantonese / Mandarin would be an advantage;
- A good team player and able to work independently and under pressure.
