Job Description

DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING

Assistant Technical Officer (Ref. 19011702-E4)

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a) look after the daily operations of the Mechanical Workshop and provide technical support to all structural engineering laboratories;

(b) supervise laboratory sessions and assist in the fabrication, setup, instrumentation and testing of student and research projects carried out in or outside the laboratories/workshops of the Department;

(c) provide support to teaching and research activities;

(d) provide assistance to academics in charge of laboratories in management, safety, maintenance and development of laboratories/workshops;

(e) provide support to departmental events, e.g. University Information Day and Orientation Day; and

(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or his/her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a) have a recognised degree in Civil & Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related disciplines, or a higher diploma/diploma in the said disciplines with at least three years of relevant post-qualification experience; and

(b) be fluent in Cantonese, English and Putonghua.

Preference will be given to those with a valid driving licence of class 2 or above, and those who have work experience in laboratories and/or workshops in tertiary institutions.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service
 
A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
