Job Description

We are helping our client, a leading fintech leader, to build their local risk team in Hong Kong. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast paced company that is actively expanding its mobile payment business worldwide. 

The core focus of this role is managing the merchant/acquirer risk end-to-end and the execution of it. The end-to-end process will include policy & process development and enhancement, onboarding, initial & regular risk assessment, ongoing monitoring, fraud case review and reporting per listed below.

Job Description:

  • Acquirer/Merchant Policy Development & Enhancement : Enhance merchant risk management policy & process based on the uniqueness of the HK business model and develop adequate process to support risk mitigation and case management
  • Acquirer/Merchant Risk Assessment & Onboarding: Ability to gather relevant information to assess the risk level imposed by acquirer/merchant,and ensure the fulfillment of due diligence when onboarding acquirers/merchants
  • Ongoing Portfolio Management & Monitoring – Monitor key risk KPI and its business impact and respond to changing client and market environmental risk and fraud conditions; Managing relationships with key stakeholders, including clients (acquirers / merchant)
  • Case Review & investigation: Review & follow up on Fraud/charge back cases and work with team members to identify gaps, develop appropriate fraud mitigation strategies, and determine if management action is needed to strengthen controls; Identify new fraud and cybercrime threats to the payments system and communicate them to relevant stakeholders
  • Operation Process & enhancement: Collaborate closely with our operational team to ensure policy are executed and facilitate ; Act as the feedback loop to collect inputs from our operational team and clients to continue to enhance our policy and process  serve our merchant and acquirers with the aim to optimize our acquirer/merchant risk exposure. 

Ideal candidate:

 

  • The ideal candidate has 3-5 years of experience in Merchant Risk, and Fraud Risk at a Payments, bank, card association or E-Commerce company.
  • Knowledge with card scheme and experience in merchant policy is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences or other quantitative discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • Familiar with data analytics and tools (such as SQL) and concepts, ability to pulling data from various data sources, conducting analyses and presenting findings to others 
  • Organized with attention to details: with good follow-through skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. 
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate points of view on complex and challenging topics professionally with supporting rationale to cross-functional stakeholders with appropriate clarity and discretion 
  • Language: Fluent in English, Mandarin and Cantonese
  • The position is based in Hong Kong and require occasional travel
