Job Description
FUNCTION
The function of the Quantity Surveyor is to handle all quantity surveying duties from pre-contract to post contracts related matters & the commercial aspects. The Quantity Surveyor must ensure the successful delivery & improvement of projects from accurate & timely costing & billing through coordination with project teams & accounting department. Working with the Senior Quantity Surveyor & Quantity Surveying Manager, the Quantity Surveyor will provide advice to the project teams on contractual, financial & commercial issues & ensure all contractual records & correspondences are issued in accordance with the conditions of contract.
DUTIES
• Cost planning and estimation
• Preparation of tender submission/documentation
• Tender analysis, support and assessment
• Assess validity of claims from sub-contractors or suppliers
• Monitor, co-ordinate and maintain records for relevant contractual entitlements (e.g. claims, Variation orders etc.)
• Monitor the materials and works on sites
• Evaluation of variation orders, Interim and final assessment of payment for the sub-contractor's work
• Financial monitoring and associated commercial reporting
• Any other matters as may be directed by Quantity Surveying Manager
DESIRABLE
• In the process of obtaining Chartered status or being a Member of RICS/HKIS or of a similarly recognized professional institute e.g. MCIOB/ MHKIE is advantageous.
• Candidates with more experience will be considered for the role of Senior Quantity Surveyor
• Experience in managing Façade works is advantageous
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
• Higher Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline related
• 3 – 5 years of relevant experience in building / civil construction projects
• Experience in sub-contractors administration, cost, budgeting controls & analysis
• Good understanding & experience of the construction process/ construction industry & it’s regular processes
PERSONAL QUALITIES
Proactive, Effective communication and interpersonal skills, able to work with minimal supervision, organised, able to plan and prioritise work, good sense of commercial awareness, ability to drive & implement for results.
SKILLS / ABILITIES
Proficient with MS Office applications, good command of English and Chinese (written and spoken)
