Role

The role of the team is to drive digital services towards a microservice-based architecture. You will work closely with teams across Digital IT, assisting them to build new microservices, improve quality, and accelerate delivery.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Design, implement, and support services based on a microservice architecture design.
• Build services that auto-scale and auto-heal.
• Help define standards, architectures, and patterns to assist in the development of microservices.
• Define and promote API-based service consumption models.
• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to mentor, educate, and promote microservice-based services.

Experience

You will have at least 5 years’ experience as a software developer. You will have written and supported code in production for more than a year. You will have written auto-scaling, geographically diverse microservices.

You will have experience developing APIs both for internal consumption and external developer communities.

Experience with NoSQL databases is desired. Experience with serverless (functional) programming would be an advantage.

Required Skills

The successful candidate will have experience developing microservices in multiple languages and on multiple cloud platforms. They will be familiar with API development and lifecycle management, test-driven development and automated testing, continuous integration and delivery, packaging, containerization, and infrastructure automation.

The candidate will be familiar with containers, and sidecar and proxy service edges.

The successful candidate will have familiarity with a number of the following tools: Git, GitLab, Jenkins, Bamboo, Nexus, Selenium, Ansible, Capistrano, Consul, Terraform, Pact, SOAP-UI, Junit, JIRA, Rally, Docker, Kubernetes, Istio, Cucumber, Honeycomb, Envoy, and others.

The candidate will need to be able to develop close working relationships with developers across the organization, and mentor them in how to develop and maintain microservices.
