Job Description

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • To write, edit and produce the Society’s content to meet the needs of different target audiences
  • Plan and develop multi-media communications materials
  • Produce the Society's publications and text
  • Help maintain and promote the Society's presence on key social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram
  • Help in the translation of materials 
  • Produce the Society's Annual Review (bilingual)
  • Pitch interview ideas to media, assist in the conducting of interviews
  •  Draft press releases, briefings and other materials, as required
  • Assist with the planning and co-ordination of events
  • Provide proactive and reactive media relations support for the SPCA's campaigns
  • Engage with celebrities and their agents on behaf of the SPCA, as and when required
  • Respond to media enquiries in a timely and effective manner, including drafting quotes, as directed by the Deptuy Director, Strategy of Communications
  • Assist the Deputy Director (Strategy and Communications) in promoting the Society’s policies, activities and public image
  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Deputy Director, Strategy & Communications

 

 Requirements:

  • University graduate in disciplines including language, communications, translation or journalism, with at least 2 year’s relevant experience. Prior experience dealing with the media and developing media strategies will be an advantage  
  • Excellent English and Chinese writing and editing skills; Ability to produce written material to a high standard on tight deadlines 
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation & communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills,  including a demonstrated ability to prioritise and execute a large number of tasks in an efficient manner
  • Proficient in computer skills (eg. Microsoft Office and PowerPoint), and multimedia skills (eg. photo and video editing, graphic design etc.) 
  • A team player. The role will require liaising with many different internal and external stakeholders
  • Detail orientated, hands-on and with good project management skills
  • Enthusiastic and proactive
  • Willing to work occasionally on Sundays and public holidays when required
  • Genuine interest and passion in the welfare of all animals
