Job Description

Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is recruiting an Individual Contractor for the position of PSP Associate (Private Philanthropy & Partnerships).

 

This position of PSP Associate (Private Philanthropy & Partnerships), will take up duties arise from donor acquisition, donor retention and engagement activities. The incumbent's role is to increase financial support from Private Philanthropy & Partnerships (PPH) sector encompassing Corporates, Foundations and High Net Wealth Individuals/Major Donors in Hong Kong and Macao SARs, as part of the global Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP) Strategy.

 

Requirements and experience:

  • University degree in International Relations, Marketing, Communications, Business Administration or a related field.
  • A minimum of 6 years experience in supporting the management of Corporate or Ultra High Net Worth Fundraising and/or business development with exposure to the international environment.
  • Excellent written and spoken Cantonese and English skills and communications skills.
  • Strong computer skills for preparation of PSP–PPH materials such as proposals and reports to variety of PPH audiences.
  • Experience in implementation of effective stewardship programmes that create and enhance lasting relationships, and are resourced effectively to create opportunities for consistent and meaningful interactions with donors.
  • Current market knowledge of Private Sector Fundraising focused on PPH in Hong Kong.
  • Ability to work independently and to exercise good judgement is valuable for this position, which requires a certain level of maturity and sensitivity.
  • Knowledge of refugee issues and of UNHCR or another human rights-oriented agency is an asset.
  • Chinese national/Hong Kong Permanent Resident.
  • Background in fundraising preferably with an International Organisation (IO) or international NGO.
  • Familiarity with the UN in general and a good knowledge of UNHCR operations both at Headquarters and in the Field would be an asset.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with international team members.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective working relationships with people in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.

 

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Assisting in the implementation of major campaigns to generate income and to develop new prospects for Private Philanthropy & Partnership (PPH) and Middle Donor programmes.
  • Assisting in providing regular analysis and reports about the two programmes in to local, regional and global stakeholders.
  • Assisting in ensuring compliance to UNHCR’s internal policies and PSP criteria for partnership with the PPH sector, and also to the domestic law related to the tax deduction benefits for donors.
  • Support to execute UNHCR’s fundraising and communications plan, events and programmes planned for Q1-2 in 2019, to ensure that they positively build the UNHCR brand and meet fundraising targets.
  • Perform any other related duties that maybe required.
