Job Description

Successful candidate will be someone who is

  • An excellent communicator in person, personable, firm and diplomatic.
  • Passionate in promoting Christianity faithfully and with good aesthetics and presentation.   
  • Sensitive and respectful to cultural differences, especially in terms of the aesthetics and the styles of communication.

  • A team player and a self-starter, proactive in learning what the ministry team will be doing so as to initiate the creative process accordingly.
  • Be a hands-on doer and a planner, able to deliver last-minute design jobs while shifting the team towards forward planning.
  • A worshipping member of MIC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary owner of the church website and various social media platforms in terms of content and graphic design.  
  • Develop effective means of communication with church members, especially newcomers, to help them better understand and in turn become more involved with different ministries.
  • Be the point-person in all matters of publicity and community relations on behalf of MIC to external parties, including but not limited to government and NGOs.
  • Edit the content of all external materials, including weekly service and worship materials.
  • Optimize the space of the Wesleyan House to promote the various ministries of MIC.
  • Aggregate an always-up-to-date communication schedule for the MIC team.
  • Manage freelance designers, printers and other suppliers of promotional materials so as to ensure all designs, advertisement and promotional efforts are timely, accurate, understandable and beautiful.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Strong working knowledge of
    • Graphic design, photography and videography (script-writing, storyboarding and editing included)
    • Adobe Suite, iMovie and other equivalent or more advance apps.
    • Website design using WIX and its database, index page and dynamic page and SEO function is a must. Knowledge of Wix Code is highly preferred.
    • Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Vimeo and others.
    • Propresenter.
    • Google Suite (google-doc, calendar, sheet, form etc) for office teamwork and internal communications.
  • Excellent command of English, written and verbal. Chinese would be a big plus.

The Methodist International Church (MIC), is a gospel-preaching, disciple-making, diverse community in the centre of Hong Kong. Established in 1893, it now comprises eight congregations worshipping in English, Putonghua, Tagalog and Ilocano. MIC has recently completed a 22-storey building redevelopment in Wanchai and is looking to greatly enlarge its mission and ministry to Hong Kong.

We are now looking for someone to serve as the confidential/trusted assistant to the Senior Pastor. She/he will provide high-level support to the Senior Pastor in a wide range of activities in the performance of his administrative and ministerial responsibilities, while interacting with staff, congregational members and the community.
