About this role

A world leading design studio specialising in commercial office and mixed-use projects are seeking experienced project and design managers to join their Hong Kong studio. With a technical design background and a solid understanding of both the design and construction process, you will have strong communication skills, with good self-discipline and solid leadership abilities. Driving productivity, efficiency, and design standard through the design and delivery stages of projects, your role will be working closely with the design team, production team, as well as client and site-based construction staff. There are two openings, one will be focused on the China market which will require Mandarin and English speaking skills and the other on Hong Kong area which will need someone able to communicate in both Cantonese and English. Non-Cantonese speakers may be considered for the HK role if you can demonstrate exceptional experience as a design manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • From concept to completion, you engage with the creative team, our clients and construction partners to ensure everyone is clear of the objectives and project deliverables.
  • With exceptional communication skills, you will be able to build rapport with the design team, the client, and construction partners alike. Understanding project objectives, you will be able to identify issues and will be able to use this relationship building ability to navigate through problems, leading the project smoothly to realisation.
  • You will consistently review work for design integrity, accuracy, clarity, and quality, and be confident in addressing areas of concern.
  • Technically competent, you will be able to oversee complex drawing packages, as well as identify issues in drawing packages and redline areas to be addressed.
  • You will be up to date on the final side of the projects, responsible for producing fee proposals and managing payment stages.
  • You will understand how to efficiently resource a project, ensuring talent and skills are allocated and budgeted for correctly, and efficiently

Education and Skill Requirements

  • Qualification in Architecture, Interior Design or Project Management
  • Proven experience working with commercial interior design projects (5 years minimum) with at least 4 years in a project/design management capacity.
  • Ability to prioritize and concurrently service multiple projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, InDesign, Microsoft Word and Outlook preferred.
