Formal Title: Mathnasium Instructor

Position Summary:

                  The Mathnasium Instructor is primarily responsible to delivering mathematical tutoring to students in a math only learning center and the execution of the Mathnasium method to enrich student learning. The Instructor is committed to providing exceptional customer service through an expert approach that is personal and prescriptive, attending to each individual student’s needs. They build students confidence and self-esteem through successful encounter and interaction with carefully selected materials. The Instructor works as part of a team and operates in a predominantly team teaching environment where collaboration and communication occur frequently to ensure all students needs are addressed. The Mathnasium Instructor is the backbone of Mathnasiums learning centers by delivering exceptional math tutoring for students.

Instructor Role:

• Teach through Mathnasium methodology and terminology, using prescribed teaching practices.
• Encourage, motivate, and engage with actively students during the instructional session.
• Evaluate and document student progress.
• Correct student work and provide positive constructive feedback.
• Maintain student attention and re-engage distracted students.
• Manage student behavior to create a positive environment that optimizes learning.
• Communicate student needs to center leadership and instructional staff in a team-teaching environment.
• Assist in non-teaching tasks, which may include cleaning, administrative assistance, curriculum preparation, or other duties as assigned.

Experienced Required:

                  The Mathnasium Instructor position is an entry level position that does require directly related experience to be hired. It is preferred that the candidate have experience in tutoring mathematical concepts to students, is able to manage students’ behavior, and is willing to grow and develop professionally.

Work Environment:

                  The Mathnasium Instructor work in a learning center environment. This environment is subject to constant change due to the volume increase/decrease of students, the noise level due to student volume, and behavior of students. The Mathnasium Instructor work on the instructional floor of the learning center. They work with other Mathnasium Instructors and are required to collaborate to ensure all students have their needs met. The Mathnasium Instructor is responsible to taking instruction from superiors such as the Lead Instructor(s), Assistant Center Director(s), and Center Director(s).

Availability Required:

                  The Mathnasium Instructor is required to work approximately 12-25 hours a week in order to fulfill their requires duties and responsibilities. The Mathnasium Instructor is responsible for informing the center director is they are unable to make it to work and are empowered to communicate with other instructors and team members to make arrangements to cover their shift.
