Job Description

CENTRE FOR HOLISTIC TEACHING AND LEARNING (CHTL)

The CHTL works in partnership with academic colleagues to foster continuous quality learning and teaching at HKBU. It aims to reinforce the student-centred, whole-person and outcome-oriented ethos of learning and teaching befitting a leading liberal arts university. Within its remits, the CHTL plays an active role in supporting Teaching Development Grants (TDG) projects, Community of Practice (CoP) initiatives, special projects on teaching and learning innovations, as well as assists the University in evidence collection for Whole Person Education through assessment of students’ attainment of the University’s Graduate Attributes.

The appointees will be responsible for (a) assisting web applications development and testing; (b) assisting website design, deployment and maintenance; (c) server setup, configuration and administration; (d) logistic services related to CHTL’s projects; and (e) any other duties assigned by supervisors.

Requirements:

- relevant Bachelor’s degree or above (preferably in Computer Science)

- hands-on experience in PHP, HTML/CSS3, JavaScript, MySQL, MS SQL or similar database management systems

- proficiency in Linux (Ubuntu, Fedora, CentOS) and Apache is highly desirable and a definite advantage

- knowledge in data security technologies, such as SSL, encryption, is preferred

- ability to explore innovative technologies on eLearning platforms

- fresh graduate will also be considered

Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract of up to two years. Re-appointment thereafter is subject to performance review, mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
