Job Description
Business Development Manager
Responsibilities
- Understand and follow the import and export policies;
- Responsible to re-check the documentation of every activities related to import and export;
- Examine various documents, including invoices, bills of lading, and shipping statements to ensure compliance with federal and foreign regulations governing the shipment, receipt, and documentation of exported products;
- Oversee and maintain the Harmonized Classification System pertaining to tariff research, binding rules, protests, duty rates, and valuation on all shipment;
- Manage all import, export, or break-bulk transactions and applicable administrative as foreign government programs;
- Drive development and end to end implementation of market entry, importation and distribution models, strategies and/or processes;
- Negotiate with distributors relating to price quotations;
- Act as the bridge between potential clients and operation team to identify business opportunities;
- Perform required prior disclosures for all processes and supervise all external agents such as freight forwarders and customers brokers;
- Conduct a frequent client visits to build and enhance relationship validating service levels and develop new revenue streams;
- Partner with consulting team to identify and analyse business opportunities;
- Conduct visits to new territories to grow the business of existing clients and develop new potential clients;
- Perform all internal and external audits;
- Review financial results with team and implement adjustments as required;
- Identify areas of concern in clients’ export processes through monitoring of team performance against company and client standard;
- Plan and monitor daily staffing schedules and adjusts accordingly to ensure sufficient staffing schedules which support operational demands;
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree holder, preferably in Commerce;
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in Export and Import;
- Understanding of import and export policies;
- Understanding of import and export documentation;
- Strategic thinking, detailed-minded, and critical thinking.
- Ability to negotiate;
- Experience in merchandising;
- Experience in finance;
- Strong leadership and communication skills;
- Fluency in English and Chinese;
- Fluency in any other Asian language is an advantage;
