Our client is a leading professional services firm, renowned for their advisory and support for their clients on a global basis. Due to continuing growth and to support the Asia Pacific region more effectively, we are now looking for a Business Research Manager to set up the regional function in Hong Kong. 

As a key member of the global team, you will report directly to the Global Headquarters team, and be responsible for the following:

• Interviewing and interacting with the Partners and Senior Management team to scope and define new projects and initiatives
• Work with the global team to instruct, collaborate and share resources to execute research mandates
• Perform research and analysis, sourcing data and intel from key data providers and using databases to interpret data, analyse trends and write reports to summarise finding
• Work strategically with the business heads, senior management team and global functions to define strategic projects to identify opportunities that match the firm’s corporate goals, bring innovation to clients or enhance the firm’s offering
• Be a key point of contact for the Asia Pacific region, help build the profile of the team and manage expectations and priorities for delivery.

This is a newly created role for Asia Pacific, and is a high profile and pioneering role for the firm. Suitable candidates will have the following:

• 6-10 years’ experience of working in a senior research capacity within an Investment Banking, Consulting or Professional Services firm environment
• Solid experience of financial research platforms such as Thomson One, Bloomberg, Factset etc.
• Good numeracy and ability to read financial information, assimilate and interpret findings in layman terms
• Strong communication skills, including reading and writing of reports, have an ability to summarise complex data in a succinct format for presentations to senior management
• Good Excel spreadsheet skills, together with building models and writing macros a distinct advantage
• Confidence, executive presence and gravitas to work with the business and the senior management team
• Independence and self-sufficiency to be able to problem solve and work in an individual contributor capacity
• Good business knowledge of the Asia and China region, and ability to share knowledge of the business landscape of this region to global counterparts
• Be able to drive new ideas, influence and gain buy-in for innovation and different concepts
• Fluency in both English and Chinese, including reading and writing.
