Job Description

Job Purpose:              

“To provide financial advice to Management ensuring alignment to the company’s strategic direction and business plans, ensuring that all liabilities are properly recorded and accounted for in the financial statements and provide timely, relevant and accurate financial information for review by the Management”

 

Key Accountabilities:

In addition to following Lane Crawford’s policies and procedures, key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

 

Leadership and Management

  • Provide strategic and financial advice to the business with alignment to the company's strategic direction and business plan
  • Establish and operate short and long term financial planning and forecasting procedures, anticipating internal and external factors affecting the business
  • Provide effective leadership to colleagues in Finance & Accounts by effectively driving virtual and project teams towards desired outcomes and provide coaching as required
  • Develop, implement and maintain finance, accounting, payables, compliance, inventory control, sales audit and controllership procedures accurately reporting Lane Crawford’s performance against AOP, YoY and other relevant benchmarks
  • To ensure all appropriate people are trained and well versed in company policies and compliance procedures
  • Provide on the job learning and development opportunities to team members and project team

 

Financial

  • Establish and operate financial effectiveness and governance processes designed to optimize business outcomes while ensuring appropriate internal controls and safeguards are in place
  • Analyze cash flow, cost controls, and expenses to guide Management. Analyze overall financial performance to pinpoint potential weak areas and help to generate solutions.
  • Review and strengthen disciplines around channel sales target setting, allocation, and sales commission calculation
  • To make recommendations to improve current business processes and incorporating best practices in the market
  • To identify ways to improve productivities and efficiencies

 

Business Outcomes

Provide high-quality business services in the areas of:

  • Controllership
  • Governance and Internal Control
  • Forecasting and Planning
  • Target Setting & Allocation
  • Performance analysis

 

Administration, Internal Controls & System Enhancements

  • To administer the company insurance program, including the liaison with insurance brokers on matters relating to insurance arrangement, claims, preparation
  • To carry out vendor reviews prior to insurance program renewal proposals and liaison with the Group’s Insurance Committee
  • To liaise with lawyers for group trademark registration affairs

 

Compliance and Business Integrity

  • To ensure that financial practices are sound and in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards and prevailing legislation as well as company guidelines, policies and procedures
  • To prepare financial statements in compliance with relevant reporting, accounting standards and taxation requirements
  • To ensure that people understand and are complying with the procedures and processes
  • To coordinate with other divisions / departments on strengthening internal control systems
