Job Description

Position Summary:

The Quality Assurance Engineer will assist in establishing the overall quality, safety and reliability for products to ensure compliance with applicable statutory regulations, internal Company quality requirements and customer requirements. You will be responsible for developing quality assurance/control test plan, coordinating of compliance testing, reporting and metrics, production monitoring and final production products testing.

You’ll Do:

  • Review and assess new product designs to ensure compliance to appropriate Global government, industry and retailer requirements.
  • Coordinate efforts on complying new regulations post-BrExit for both UK and European Union.
  • Interact closely with Product Development and Engineering team and make recommendations to minimize or eliminate the possibility of hazardous conditions.
  • Coordinate with the US, Hong Kong, Shanghai, UK, EU and the global team to ensure that procedures are properly understood and followed.
  • Review factory activities related to quality inspection to ensure product compliance to company’s quality expectations.
  • Evaluate and test prototypes, models, PP samples for safety and fit, form and function.
  • Establish and maintain process control including document management, factory certification audits, date coding product, sewn in labels (SIL), license registrations for stuffed toy, upholstered furniture/bedding for US, Canada, EU, AU requirements and registration cards for durable infant products.
  • Coordinate all independent test lab activities, review reports and establish any corrective actions.
  • Maintain, manage and review all testing reports (including pre-production and final testing) for all products.  Provide advice on retesting solutions to the compliance team as appropriate.
  • Analyze and report on all retail or online store rejections/ hazard notifications and customer complaints, with reports to the QA Engineering Manager for continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and consolidate the relevant and key documents for EU technical files such as but not limited to Safety Assessment, EC Type Examination, Test Reports and Declaration of Conformity.
  • Review product markings, installation/assembly instructions, warning labels and packaging to ensure all are following the applicable standards.
  • Establish and manage corrective action process to resolve manufacturing defect and product improvement activities.
  • Establish product specification by APQP and PFMEA approach.
  • Other duties may be assigned. 

Bring It!

  • Bachelors’ degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Chemistry, Applied Science or related field.
  • Around 3-5 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and US and/ or EU regulatory experience in juvenile product, food contact or electrical items.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations, standards, and laws including: CPSIA, CFR, FDA, ASTM, EN, LFGB and so on.
  • Sound knowledge in APQP, Lean Six Sigma, PFMEA and PPAP.
  • Able to use a variety of testing/ measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, multimeters, pin gauges, thread, ring and height gauges.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities and adapt to a flexible and fast-paced environment.
  • Experience of artwork approval and understanding of marketing claim validation.
  • Ability to communicate in written and oral English and Mandarin.
  • Willingness to travel to Mainland China and oversea countries.
