Job Description

The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority is a statutory body established by the Hong Kong SAR Government in 2008, responsible for developing the West Kowloon Cultural District.

 

Job title:        Assistant Manager, Communications and Public Affairs

Department:  Communications and Public Affairs Department

Duration:       12 months

Location:        Tsim Sha Tsui  

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • assist in developing public engagement strategy and executing community outreach initiatives so as to enhance the public understanding of the work of the Authority and foster support from local community;
  • plan and organise stakeholder engagement initiatives and community outreach events/campaigns of the District including delegation visits;
  • cultivate relations and liaise with government and business organisations, influencers, arts and cultural programme partners, and community groups;
  • prepare communications materials including press releases, speeches, and presentation materials, etc;
  • assist in message development, internal and external stakeholders liaison in crisis communications and issues handling; and
  • handle and coordinate responses to public enquiries when required; and
  • execute ad-hoc communications projects when required.

  

Requirements: 

  • possess a recognised university degree or above in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or related discipline;
  • have at least 5 years of relevant and solid experience in public relations, events management, media relations, corporate communications, corporate social responsibility and community engagement
  • have proven experience in engaging government bodies, NGOs, political and community groups; arts and culture groups engagement experience is a definite asset;
  • strong interpersonal and communications skills, good team player, multi-tasking, attention to details, strong analytical mind and alert to issues; able to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure, creative and dynamic;
  • able to plan, execute and manage projects independently to achieve the communications goals;
  • high adaptability to an environment of volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity;
  • have excellent written and spoken English and Chinese; be proficient in Putonghua; and
  • able to work irregular hours, at weekends and public holidays if required.
