Job Description

Role purpose:

To provide our client-facing specialists and Executive team in Asia with compelling presentations for business getting purposes, working with the International Proposals team to that end.

 

Key Accountabilities:

1.  To provide business getting support to Christie's teams of specialists and executives in Asia and specifically Hong Kong.

  • Write and project manage major, complex proposals and presentations to tight deadlines to win business, working closely with specialists, senior management and marketing/financial representatives throughout the process.  The person must ensure that the projects are completed to deadline and are of the highest quality.
  • Set departmental strategy (in co-ordination with GH) and ensure objectives are met.
  • Ensure the internal relationships are strong with colleagues across the business (including Senior Executives, Specialists, Business Directors, Marketing, Press, Client Strategy and Business intelligence)
  • Develop statistical information for business getting purposes, supervise and maintain image database (including commissioning of photographs every season)

2.  To work with the Global Head of Department on the strategic development of the Asia Proposals within the context of the Global team.

  • Regular meetings with the Global Head.
  • Work closely with proposal teams in Christie's Europe and New York to share best practice and information.
  • Work with the GH to identify areas of growth (regions or categories) and make sure resources are used effectively to support this.

3.  To align proposals content with corporate messaging.

  • Ensure corporate messaging is reflected in proposals content, on a global scale - this includes new sales calendar, channel agnostic sale strategies, brand guidelines and new marketing directives.
  • Supervise development of proposal content including statistical information, marketing and market information each season, instigate Seasonal Reviews with specialist departments, where appropriate.
  • Work with the GH and international team to continuously innovate proposals format and content, be proactive in conceiving and pushing forward these plans.

4.  Financial Management.

  • Manage Proposals HK budget including regular reviews with GH.
  • Be cost aware when discussing the proposal design and production with specialists and ensure that the amount spent on a project is based on its potential value to Christie's.
  • Liaise with external suppliers to ensure costs are competitive.
  • Create POs when appropriate.

5.  Reporting.

  • Update the departmental database in timely and regular fashion.
  • Prepare weekly and quarterly report for GH and Senior Management, and more comprehensive half year and full year reports, complete ad hoc reporting requests from Executive team.

Skills and Experience

  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Chinese
  • Bachelor Degree of Fine Art/Visual Art/Design
  • Approximately 5 years of working experience in a related industry, solid experience with an auction house or renowned Advertising and Marketing agencies is highly regarded
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to persuade and influence colleagues in an assertive but professional manner where appropriate
  • Strong time management skills - be highly organized, with ability to prioritize and delegate when needed
  • Clear sense of personal accountability
  • Good team player but with ability to self-motivate and work well independently
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Commitment to producing work of the highest standard to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work well and calmly under pressure
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Keen analytical and numeracy skills, good business sense
  • Strategic mind set:  ability to analyse detail and draw conclusions to inform "bigger picture thinking"
  • Strong visual eye
  • "Can do" attitude, energy and commitment to work the hours necessary to meet deadlines
  • Interest in Art History and the art market
  • Computer literate, knowledge and experience of Macs and software including InDesign and Photoshop is preferable but training can be provided
