Job Description

Reporting to the Executive Director, Policy and Development, the incumbent will assume the following:

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Head and manage a team of regulatory / professional / actuarial staff
  • Develop legislation, rules and guidelines on insurance supervision
  • Develop the new RBC solvency regime
  • Provide technical support for actuarial matters
  • Perform prudential supervision of authorized insurers
  • Carry out inspection and investigation to ensure insurers’ compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Liaise with industry bodies and professional bodies on matters relating to the regulation and development of the insurance industry
  • Co-ordinate with other local or overseas insurance/financial regulators on prudential supervision of insurers
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior management to facilitate the administration of the statutory functions of IA

 

Requirements

  • A degree in actuarial or other appropriate fields including statistics, accounting, finance, banking, economics, law or business administration
  • Qualified actuary (FSA, FIA or FIAA). Fellow membership of the Actuarial Society of Hong Kong is an advantage
  • Minimum 5 years’ post-qualification experience
  • Knowledge of the local regulatory requirements, insurance products, industry practices and market dynamics relating to insurance business.
  • Preferably experience in a local or overseas insurance regulatory agency, and/or under RBC solvency regimes
  • Strong analytical, leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong command of written and spoken English. Chinese language ability is an advantage
