Job Description

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES OFFICE

Specialist (Technology Infrastructure) (Ref. 19030816-E2)

Duties

The appointee will work in a team responsible for the development, support and management of the campus network infrastructure.  The appointee will be required to:

(a)  assist in the installation, maintenance and operation of the campus networking equipments including Wi-Fi, server load-balancing system, Internet and campus routers, LAN switches, Firewall systems, VPN gateways, IPS, traffic shaper and any other LAN equipment and tools within campus and off-campus offices;

(b)  assist in the installation and administration of various network servers and network devices, i.e. Radius Servers, DHCP servers, Network Management servers, DNS servers etc.;

(c)  assist in the installation, maintenance and operation of Voice and Unified Communication System (IP Telephony System);

(d) liaise with related parties on the installation and maintenance of structured cabling system and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS);

(e) handle network issues reported by users, user requests and enquiries;

(f)  assist in building dashboards in splunk for monitoring IoT and various systems;

(g) assist in the maintenance of software tools for the in-house developed campus network management system (CNM);

(h) perform scheduled maintenance work during non-office-hours;

(i)  perform 7x24 after-office-hour standby network service support on a roster basis and when required; and

(j)  perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of the Office or his delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should:

(a) have a recognised degree in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline;

(b) have preferably two or more years of relevant post-qualification working experience;

(c) have experience in installation and administration of Wi-Fi network and system, DHCP servers, Radius servers and load balancers;

(d) have in-depth knowledge of communication protocols and standards;

(e) have experience in SNMP, MRTG, Apache, Perl, PHP and mySQL database under the Linux platform;

(f)  have good communication skills; and

(g) be proficient in written and spoken English and preferably be fluent in written and spoken Chinese, including Putonghua.

Candidates with less experience will also be considered.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement. Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
