Job Posting Details

The Department of Management is looking for a dynamic and capable individual to fill the position of Assistant Manager.  The appointee will perform a wide spectrum of administrative duties to support the Head of the Department in managing the daily operation of the department office and offer administration support for department programs.  The duties will include: 

  • Rendering administrative support to the Head on daily departmental operations; assisting the Head in formulating strategic and implementation plans on office administration and resource planning, such as budget planning/tracking, office allocation and ensuring the alignment with University and School guidelines;
  • Managing departmental support to the administration of UGC-funded programs (UG & RPG), such as class scheduling, curriculum/course administration and registration, student affairs, student advising, organization of program committee meetings and functions, coordination of Teaching Assistants, exam invigilation arrangement, quality assurance matters, etc.;
  • Acting as the Office Manager to manage the daily operation of the department office, handling department-wide matters and supervising department staff; and as IDLP (Inter-Departmental Liaison Person) for the department to liaise with internal and external parties;
  • Handling personnel administration of teaching faculty, teaching support staff and departmental staff by providing support in the recruitment and reappointment, staff on-boarding training and workforce planning;
  • Providing secretarial service to departmental committees and meetings; maintaining proper documentations and coordinating follow-up actions; and
  • Performing any other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Applicants should have a bachelor's degree, preferably in business administration or management with at least 5 years of post-qualification and relevant work experience in the tertiary education sector. The ideal candidate should have strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills, be able to work independently and also as a team with multi-tasking skills.  He/She should also possess good command of MS office and web-based applications.  Proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua) is required. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.  A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
