Our client, a well-established famous sourcing office headquartered in Hong Kong and with a number of offices across Greater China region and continents, is currently seeking a professional merchandising expert to join their team in Taipei The major R & R and prime personnel requirements of this newly created position are as below:

Major role and responsibilities:

• Responsible in maintaining good working relationship with customer and vendors in line with business objectives
• Plan, direct and control merchandising activities to accomplish budgeted financial objectives
• Formulate marketing strategies and implement marketing plans to achieve sales target and business strategies
• Lead a small team of merchandisers to perform day to day work
• Put in place infrastructure and systems to support the success of the merchandising function
• Prepare budgets and merchandising programs and conduct activities in accordance with approved plans, merchandising objectives and policies
• Establish and maintain satisfactory customer and vendor relations through direct or delegated contacts with customers and vendors
• Participate in company strategic planning activities and recommend improvement and growth of the business
• Ensure order placement meets with approved budget plan and within profit margin and commission rate guideline
• Review organization and staff planning for hire, staff development, staff satisfaction and engagement level to minimize voluntary staff turnover
• Minimize risk exposure on vendor compliance before order placement
• Maintain appropriate communications within and between various functional areas within and across teams within the organization

Personnel Requirements:

• Minimum of 10 years solid merchandising experience in sweater apparel within a buying office or trading company. Some knits exposure will be advantageous
• Familiar with US market and offshore production
• Strong knowledge of sourcing of vendors in respect of materials and production
• Prior supervision experiences of a small team of merchandisers would be vital
• Good team player and good interpersonal skills
• Aggressive, self-motivated and well organized
• Proficiency in both English and Mandarin
• Occasional business travel is required but not frequent at all
