Job Duties

• Work with merchandising teams to ensure fabric system and procedure are both understood and adhered to.
• Provides Technical Support and risk assessment to cross functional teams related to fabric / raw material quality, and related process.
• Trains mills, and printers in the correct submission procedures, fabric performance standards, RSL requirements, and legislative requirements.
• Provides problem solving support, root cause analysis, and corrective action plan to improve mills performance
• Oversees the resolution of production and operational problems related to fabric quality in the mills and to ensure critical path fabric delivery dates are met.
• Communicates non-conformities, due to technical limitation, with customers where necessary
• Supports with fabric quality initiatives and updating of Fabric/Trim quality manuals and testing protocols
• Participates in mill evaluations, feedback and corrective action plans
• Supports base fabric approval, specification submission, and manage expectations of internal/external parties.
• Support bulk fabric approval, quality performance and chemical compliance. Bulk color approval and continuity review.
• Supports any fabric related projects as required.
• Participates in relevant industry training on fabric quality and management.

Requirements

• Diploma or degree holder in Textile Technology, Fashion, Apparel, or related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years’ experience in Fabric/Material technical role at retailers.
• Knowledge in raw materials, fiber & yarn, textile manufacturing process, coloration(dyeing and printing), functional finishes and their application, etc.
• Understand compliance requirements in the textile and apparel industry
• Lab testing, digital color assessment, and color management experience
• Solid background in Fabric/Raw Material research & development process
• Production QA system, mill audit experience, and supply base management experience preferable
• Able to provide technical input to facilitate fabric development across board product categories
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel. PowerPoint, Outlook)
• Confident in fulfilling a majority of the Key Performance Indicators for this role.
• Excellent command of verbal and written English (language proficiency in Chinese. especially Mandarin, preferred).
• Candidate with less experience will be considered as Fabric Technologist.
