EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT CENTRE

Mobile App Developer (Ref. 19031910)
[Appointment period: twelve months initially, with possibility of further appointment]

The vision of the Educational Development Centre is to be a leading centre in professional development, educational innovation and scholarship for quality teaching and learning.  We work with Senior Management to enhance the quality of the student experience of teaching and learning. The Centre has a large profile, including offering short courses and workshops on teaching and learning, individual consultations, support for student learning outcomes assessment, teaching evaluation services, and activities which promote the use of educational technologies. Duties

The appointee will be appointed at the substantive level of Project Associate or Project Assistant depending on the qualifications and experience acquired by the appointee.  He/She will assist the project leader in the research project - “Language enhancement for capstone projects using interactive apps”.  He/She will be required to:

(a) develop and maintain systems to support institutional teaching and learning initiatives;

(b) assist in web development, mobile app development, server administration and maintenance;

(c) prepare technical documentation for institutional projects;

(d) provide technical and administrative support to the Centre; and

(e) perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of the Centre or her delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants for the post of Project Associate should have a master’s degree or a good honours degree with three or more years of research/relevant work experience.

Applicants for the post of Project Assistant should have an honours degree or an equivalent qualification.

The degree for both posts should be in Computing, Computer Science, Information Systems or related disciplines.

For both posts, applicants should also have:

(a) experience in developing mobile application for iOS and Android;

(b) experience in developing application with open-source solutions, preferably with experience in Git-hub;

(c) knowledge of web and mobile development technologies such as Python, PHP, MySQL, React Native, AJAX, HTML and XML;

(d) experience in web services using markup languages like JSON and REST API; and

(e) a good command of English and Chinese.
