Job Description

Purpose of the Job

Responsible for the planning and implementation of a comprehensive fundraising program that secures the significant financial contributions from individuals, foundations, charitable trusts, family offices and others to support UNICEF’s global work. S/he leads philanthropy, which include major gifts, mid-level donors, Giving Circles, donor prospecting and research, and special one- or multi-year fundraising initiatives.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Devise short and long term plans to initiate and implement robust fundraising programs for sustainable funds targeted audience
  •  Identify and manage effectively and capably a portfolio of major donors and prospects during the process of securing and structuring their charitable giving
  •  Utilize outreach activities to ensure appropriate staff and/or Council members cultivate prospects. Leverage professional networks and industry events as channels for outreach. This includes planning and arranging meetings or conference calls, establishing assignments, and follow-up communications
  • Coordinate cultivation efforts, including maintenance of current donor profiles, identifying new prospects, tracking solicitation activities, and determining donor recognition
  • Assess and improve the cultivation process including research, solicitation, and retention. Collect and analyze background information to develop prospect profiles. Manage research and prospect-rating system and perform data analysis to recommend donor’s capacity
  • Manage and maintain an accurate and up to date database (CRM) that underpins the administration of the program, ensuracy and confidentiality of the data
  • Prepare written proposals, informational materials, donor agreements, and any other materials needed to secure prospects, and stewardship reports to donors on the use and impact of their gifts
  • Meeting fundraising financial targets, evaluating results and developing corrective strategies as needed.

Requirements

The position will act highly independently to produce results. He / She is expected to be:

  • A university degree in business, marketing, social development or related disciplines
  • At least 6 years of experience in business development, accounting servicing, sales and marketing including relevant experiences with corporate donors 
  • Experience in relationship management of high net worth customers preferred
  • Some global exposure is an advantage
  • Highly skilled in stakeholder engagement, communications and marketing, backed by a strong social and professional network
  • Strong analytical skills to drive effective results and provide market assessment
  • A self-motivator and self-learner, able to acquire and build knowledge on the job or through UNICEF’s internal resource or market contact and experience
  • Excellent English & Chinese writing skills. Able to write and present proposals effectively
