Position Description

The Research Analyst works on a growing international team conducting research on publically traded companies derived from GfK’s proprietary data assets. We are looking for an energetic and motivated individual seeking to develop their critical thinking skills to serve the audience in the institutional investment space.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibility

Specific Responsibilities include:

  • Mining through GfK’s proprietary global PoS database using SQL, Power Pivot and Power
  • Effectively communicating our research messages and conclusions to clients, which are top tier hedge funds and mutual funds.
  • You will be a client-facing analyst covering multiple companies and engaging in challenging two-way conversations.
  • Creating thoughtful and conclusive research reports on publicly traded companies across select consumer technology categories.
  • Comparing the signals coming from GfK’s proprietary dataset with other external data
  • points, such as company quarterly earnings reports, news stories, investor road shows, etc…
  • Mentor Research Associates and Analysts in the best practice for data analysis, forecasting,
  • modelling, and crafting short and impactful notes for the management team at GfK Boutique.
  • Liaison amongst satellite GfK offices, globally, and GfK Boutique’s primary Business
  • Intelligence team to ensure accuracy of data extraction and extrapolation.
  • Travel as necessary to represent GfK Boutique at industry and GfK events.

Experience and Skill:

The role requires top-rate analysis skills, problem solving aptitude, intellectual rigor as well as self-motivation. We value ingenuity, simplicity, and dedication to the achievement of team objectives.

 

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience with at least 2+ as an analyst, with significant experience in a client facing role
  • Solid analytical skills and an experience reporting (verbally and in print) on point-of-sale data.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to convey our messages to clients as clearly and concisely as possible.
  • Proven exceptional analytical skills and appetite for knowledge
  • A willingness to dive into large, complex data sets to create unique, actionable analysis for our clients.
  • High proficiency of Microsoft excel (Pivot Tables, Macros, Formulas)
  • Advanced data visualization (charts, data tables etc)
  • A keen eye for quality control. The ability to recognize data errors, likely the result of human error in the database.
  • Coordinate and execute process improvement efforts
  • The ability to think on your feet when being challenged, being responsive to client needs, and work extended hours.
  • Set objectives and development plans for the analyst team. Maintain regular dialogue with remote analysts and teams.
  • We are all working together towards a common goal and thus, teamwork is essential. Less experienced candidates will be considered as Research Analyst
