Job Description

KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER OFFICE

The Knowledge Transfer Office serves as the bridge between the University and the community for the transfer of knowledge, technology, expertise, skills and capabilities in campus-wide disciplines. The office actively protects and commercialises intellectual property rights (IPR) developed at the University, runs the Business Entrepreneurship Support & Training programme, and supports knowledge transfer activities undertaken by Faculties and Departments in the University.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute marketing activities;
  • Develop and explore potential partners, investors, donors, contract research and new business;
  • Administer the Research Matching Grant (RMG) Scheme;
  • Build and maintain good relationships with government authorities, industry leaders and university’s spin-off companies;
  • Monitor feedbacks on licensees;
  • Implement and execute aggressive expansion plans via partnering with various parties such as HKTDC, ASTRI, HKSTP, Cyberport, and entities in the Mainland;
  • Develop strategies to drive significant growth of knowledge transfer activities;
  • Provide support to the Office’s core activities such as entrepreneurial programmes and intellectual property related talks;
  • Prepare promotional materials and organise in-house activities and events;
  • Perform other duties as assigned; and
  • Occasional business travel is required.

Requirements:

  • A good Bachelor’s degree, preferably a higher degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Public Relation, Communications or related disciplines;
  • At least eight years of work experience in marketing or technology transfer fields;
  • AUTM Certification is preferred;
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese, proficient in Putonghua would be an advantage;
  • Substantial experience in handling customers’ inquiries, developing potential needs and exploring new customers;
  • Good understanding of translational research in local universities and institutions with proven track-record;
  • A good team player with positive attitude, flexibility and adaptability;
  • Excellent project management and business writing skills; and
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.

Candidates with less experience may be considered for the post of Knowledge Transfer Officer.

Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
