The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is a leading research university in Asia committed to excellence in education and research.  The Information Systems Office is responsible for the development, support, and operation of the administrative systems serving the University, covering such areas as finance, human resources, procurement, estates management, admissions, student registration/records, research and a wide spectrum of student services.  A major part of these systems/services is served by Oracle PeopleSoft ERP package, complemented by a suite of other off-the-shelf and in-house developed systems.

The Office is seeking a high caliber candidate to support the systems/services that are in place, as well as to enhance/implement new system modules/functions that are essential for the operation of the University.

The appointee will join the Java Application Development and Support team responsible for whole development life cycle which includes requirement study, design, development, testing and integration withother applications.  

Applicants should have a recognized bachelor’s degree or higher diploma (or equivalent) in computer science or a related discipline with at least 2 years of solid hands-on experience in any one of the following areas:

Java Application: Solid development experience in Java 8+, Java Spring Framework 4+, Bootstrap 3+, Hibernate, RESTful, JSON, JavaScript, JQuery 3+, HTML5, CSS 3+.

Mobile Development: Solid development experience in NodeJS, Kotlin, Ionic, ReactNative, Apache Cordova, Native App Development

BI/Dataware house: Hands-on experience in using business intelligence (BI) / ETL tools such as Tableau, Qlikview, QlikSense, Informatica.

Web Development: Solid development experience in Drupal 8+ platform, HTML5, CSS, PHP, Responsive web design, etc.

He/She should be a good team player with good analytical and problem-solving skills; be able to work independently; be proactive and self-motivated to take on new tasks and assignments; and have good communication and interpersonal skills. (Duration: 1 year)
