Job Description

Our client, one of the renowned life insurance principals in Hong Kong, has an urgent opening to invite a high caliber candidate to fill in the following position.

DIRECTOR OF RISK MANAGEMENT

Main Responsibilities:

1) Management and control of all major risk areas identified by the company

  • Liaise closely with the Risk Management Department to ensure the risk management policies and procedures meet the company’s requirements;
  • Set up suitable and effective guidelines for management or daily operations with constant review to cope with any business changes;
  • Provide professional and feasible advice on risk management descriptions and techniques for asset liability management, interest rate, market, credit and cash flow.

2) Establishment of effective risk management structure and vivid risk management policies

  • Strengthen the company’s risk management structure and review company’s risk management policies at least annually;
  • Assist each department in setting up respective risk management targets and warning mechanisms and provide regular reports or major risk related figures to the Risk Management Committee at appropriate intervals;
  • Act as Secretary of the Risk Management Committee to arrange and coordinate meetings and prepare minutes;
  • Formulate and submit monthly risk analysis reports to the Risk Management Committee.

3) Monitoring and co-ordination of internal departments' operations to cope with company policy

  • Monitor and control all risks on investment to ensure that they must be in accordance with the Investment Director’s investment strategies and exercise audit on investment transactions approved by the Risk Management Committee;
  • Assist the product development function and prepare the product risk assessment report before launching of new products;
  • Provide advice on risk management regarding daily operations of individual departments;
  • Ensure each department to report the risk incidents and operating losses.

4) Other duties

  • Lead all risk management committee meetings and set up management as well as operational procedures with regular updates;
  • Participate in ad-hoc projects assigned by top management;
  • Coordinate business continuity plans and contingency plans with top management team;
  • Report to top management and the concerned departments any possible and/or existing risks concerning the local laws, regulations, company policies and the associated risk management policies. At the same time, suggest remedial polices according to different situations and perform monitoring actions.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Holder of degree in business or finance discipline preferred;
  • At least 10 years' working experience in the compliance and/or risk management department, in particular insurance companies and financial institutions preferred;
  • Candidates with actuarial experience definitely being a plus;
  • Prime consideration will be given to the candidates who are the FRM and/or CFA holders;
  • Task-driven with strong problem solving and analytical skill;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with business functions and senior management;
  • Excellent command of both spoken and written English and Chinese, Mandarin a definite plus
