Job Posting Details

The University is looking for an experienced professional to join our Laboratory Services Section. The appointee will provide technical support on the installation and modification of the University’s laboratories as well as the operation and maintenance of electrical and mechanical provisions such as fume cupboards, cold rooms, deionized water treatment system, specialty gas piping, electrical distribution system and laboratory furniture to ensure safe, timely and effective modifications are provided for teaching and research activities and all central provisions are operated and maintained in a safe, reliable and efficient manner.

The appointee will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Support, advise and coordinate with faculties and lab users for fit-for-purpose lab designs;
  • Liaise and coordinate with internal stakeholders to design, coordinate and safely execute laboratory installations and modifications;
  • Liaise with external parties to ensure statutory compliance;
  • Design and prepare tender specifications and drawings for laboratory installation and modification, as well as for the maintenance and upgrading works of the central laboratory facilities; and
  • Supervise in-house staff and external contractors.

 

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in engineering or building services plus 5 years of relevant post-qualification experience, or a higher diploma in the aforementioned disciplines plus 10 years of relevant post-qualification experience. Applicants should have good analytical and organizational skills, a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work independently.  A good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese (including Putonghua) is essential.  Hands-on knowledge with AutoCAD is preferred.  Appointee with electrical background would be assigned to handle electrical-related duties and is required to possess a valid Certificate of Registration of Electrical Worker at Grade A0 or above. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.  A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
