Job Description

Starting Salary: HK$21,585

 

Entry Requirements:

  1. Holder of Certificate of Arts in Conservation / Building Studies / Building Services Engineering / Surveying / Civil Engineering or other construction related disciplines from a Hong Kong university / Polytechnic / Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education / technical institute / technical college or equivalent; and
  2. Meet the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or Grade E or above in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE).
  3. Experience in maintaining historic buildings is an advantage.
  4. Immediately available is highly preferred.

 

Major Job Duties:

  1. To monitor progress of maintenance and renovation of temples directly administered by Chinese Temples Committee, including site inspections of contractors’ works and record taking of site progress;
  2. To prepare cost estimation and seek funding approval for maintenance works;
  3. To check quotations, measurement books and invoices submitted by contractors;
  4. To review existing slope maintenance records;
  5. To plan and monitor routine slope maintenance works;
  6. To attend site meetings and prepare reports; and
  7. To perform any other duties assigned by supervisor.

 

General Note:

  1. Candidate must be a permanent resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

Terms of Appointment:

The successful applicant will be offered a 1-year contract, after which a contract of longer term may be considered.  Salary of the position will be remunerated and subject to annual increment where applicable with reference to the Master Pay Scale of the Civil Service.  It may also be subject to Civil Service pay adjustment.  The incumbent will normally work under a 5-day week schedule.  Upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period with consistently high standard of performance, the appointee will be granted a gratuity for the period of service.  Such gratuity, plus any contribution by the Employer to the MPF scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Scheme Ordinance, will be equal to 10% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.  Other fringe benefits include 14 days annual leave, group medical and dental-care scheme.
