Job Description

FACILITIES MANAGEMENT OFFICE

Assistant Facilities Officer (Health and Safety) (Ref. 19041106-IE)

Duties

(a) assist in implementing the departmental health and safety regulations and the Health, Safety and Environment Management Manual;

(b) assist in co-ordinating activities, programmes and training workshops in relation to health and safety;

(c) conduct regular inspection of construction sites to ensure contractors’ full compliance with the health and safety regulations;

(d) assist in controlling the access of contractors to buildings/departmental areas/public areas/teaching venues for carrying out works;

(e) assist in implementing the hazard control programmes in relation to health and safety;

(f) assist in carrying out the accidents/incidents investigation;

(g) report malpractices or irregularities of contractors;

(h) conduct the update and maintenance of e-Health, Safety and Environmental System;

(i) perform shift duties including working on Saturdays/Sundays/public holidays; and

(j) handle any other duties as assigned by the Director of Office or his delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a) a recognised certificate/diploma in a related discipline, plus at least three years of relevant work experience in building services or facilities management;

(b) a Certificate of Construction Safety Supervisor (preferably issued by OSHC or CIC) and a valid safety card;

(c) sound knowledge of facilities management or construction industry;

(d) good communication and interpersonal skills; and

(e) a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.

Preference will be given to those with relevant qualification in the occupational health and safety and who are qualified first aider.

Remuneration and Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.  Applicants should state their current and expected salary in the application.
