Summary

Hitachi East Asia Ltd. is now looking for a Deputy Site Manager to join Proton Beam Therapy Project at HKSH (Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital).  The Deputy Site Manager will support the Site Manager in managing the relationships with the vendors and subcontractors by resolving technical issues.  He/She will also coordinate progress controls for the installation, coordinate the scheduling of installation activities and ensure that the site activities are performed in a safe / clean environment, in accordance with the site safety manuals / procedures and applicable laws/regulations with the goals of ensuring a successful project.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work under the direct supervision of the Site Manager.
  • Assist the Site Manager and Technical Supervisor in resolving construction issues.
  • Coordinate site meetings, define agendas and prepare minutes.
  • Review schedules, procedures and safety reports prepared by Subcontractors.
  • Set the Safety Standard on the Project and lead by example.  Establish productivity monitoring procedures and / or processes to assure quality of work on a progressive basis.
  • Liaise with the Customer and Government officials as it pertains to the project.
  • Responsibility for communications with representatives of the Trade Labour Unions on and off site.

Job Requirements / Qualification

  • Diploma or above in Engineering or a related discipline (Electrical / Mechanical / Nuclear / Civil etc.)
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience as at Onsite Construction Manager is required.  Experience should be included:
  • Heavy equipment installation
  • Subcontractor management
  • Troubleshooting construction / installation problems
  • Interpretation of technical drawings, sketches and diagrams
  • Medical facility experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of local means and methods
  • Must have obtained the required legal qualification to perform the work in medical construction in Hong Kong
  • Strong communication skills
  • Flexibility to work shift work and modified hours, flexibility for on-call, local availability.
  • Ability to work in radiation-controlled environment
  • Ability to perform required physical tasks (ladder climbing, inspection bending and stretching, moderate lifting, tool dexterity, etc.)
  • Must have basic knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and other MS Office software.
  • Previous experience with MS Project is preferred.
  • Must demonstrate ability to meet with the public and work well with various personnel demonstrating a good attitude and ability to work successfully as a member of the team.
  • Must be able to handle multi-tasking efficiently.  Work in a fast-paced environment with multiple parties/disciplines, and have a strong attention for detail.
  • Must be fluent in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding of English.
