Job Description

Job Duties:

  • To assist in publicity work to promote an ordinance in Hong Kong on energy efficiency and conservation, including assistance in planning and arranging promotional materials, keeping record of publicity projects, drafting letters to consultants and contractors, drafting speeches and articles for publications, and arranging the logistics of public and trade seminars.   
  • To plan and liaise with schools and other organisations with regard to some education activities at the client’s office, and be an activities leader for those activities/ events (in English, Cantonese and Putonghua) at least several times a month.
  • To liaise pro-actively with the schools and other organisations both before and after the activities/ events.
  • To perform other publicity, PR and communication duties such as preparing presentation materials and collaterals, writing, supporting other school outreach programmes or organising events as assigned by the client and PR Manager from time to time.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • University graduate with a recognised degree. Candidates with either arts or science background may apply. Academic qualifications in languages, journalism, environmental science, or PR communications and events will be an added advantage.
  • At least 2 years relevant working experience; candidates with previous experience in editing and being an activity leader are preferred. Candidates with less experience may apply for the post of Assistant Publicity Officer.
  • Good writing skills in English and Chinese essential.
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including spoken English, Cantonese and Putonghua that is sufficiently fluent for guiding educational activities and delivering presentations).        
  • Have hands-on working knowledge of office automation software application systems, including Chinese and English word-processing, database processing, as well as spreadsheet and presentation applications.           
  • Have good work ethics including consistent punctuality, a strong sense of responsibility and commitment, the ability to plan and implement and follow-up things thoroughly, and the ability to work professionally and independently with minimum supervision.         
  • Good people skills and presentation skills; good language skills; good team player; good telephone manner and social skills; attention to detail.
  • Be willing to take up a wide variety of different publicity and related tasks as required from time to time.
  • Successful candidates have to pass a language test (written Chinese and English, and spoken Putonghua and English), a computer test (both Chinese and English word-processing, use of PowerPoint and Excel spreadsheet) and interviews.
  • Language tests and interviews are happening between April 22 and April 26, and suitable candidates are expected to start work on May 2. Those who are not immediately available need not apply.

The office is in Kowloon Baybut occasional work outside the office may be necessary. Office hours are from 8:15 am to 6:15 pm for Mondays to Fridays. Starting salary for Publicity Officer is 13K-15K, depends on qualifications and experience.
