Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Assistant

The appointee will conduct an empirical study in the research area of ecology and evolutionary biology. He/she will be primarily responsible for a project focusing on amphibians of Hong Kong. There are two major goals for this project: (1) build a specimen collection for the amphibians of Hong Kong, (2) perform a population genomics study on Romer’s tree frog (Liuixalus romeri) using the ddRADseq method. An ideal candidate will have experience with laboratory work (particular NGS), data analysis of molecular data, fieldwork with amphibians and reptiles, and preparation/curation of specimens.

Requirements

Applicants should have (i) a Ph.D. (postdoctoral fellow) or Bachelor’s degree or above (research assistant) in Biology, Environmental Science, or relevant disciplines; (ii) proficient communication skills in both written and spoken English; (iii) strong statistical skills; and (iv) self-motivation and an independent work attitude.

Salary and Benefits

Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract for one year and renewable subject to performance.
