Job Description
About the position
We are looking for a cheerful and active team member, who is passionate about ecological conservation and environmental education. Working in small teams, this challenging position will be mainly responsible for the development and executing a three-year education
project aiming at the conservation of water gathering grounds in Hong Kong.
Based on your interests, capabilities, and our organisation’s needs, you will have chances to work on, and even help to create education, promotion and advocacy projects on various environmental issues.
Duties
- Implement environmental education and promotion projects on various topics, e.g. conservation of water gathering grounds in Hong Kong. You will assist in every stage of the projects from planning, implementation, to achievement sharing and reporting.
- Help to conduct ecological surveys, and manage citizen scientist programmes in ecological conservation.
- Coordinate and lead outdoor activities, field trips, workshops and school talks.
- Write up educational materials and publications.
- Communicate with schools, volunteers and other parties (e.g. government departments and vendors, etc.) with regards to project logistics.
- Handle other projects logistic and administratvie works.
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor degree or above in ecology, environmental, biological science or relevant subjects.
- At least 2 years of relevant working experience.
- Fresh graduates/candidates with less working experience will be considered as Assistant Education Officer.
- Excellent writing skills in Chinese and English for writing publications for education purpose.
- Working in small project teams, you are required to perform a broad range of simultaneous duties.
- You should be a fast learner, who also has strong self-learning ability and problem-solving skills, ready for a rapid
working environment in a non-profit organisation
Nice to be/ have
- Outdoor and nature lover
- Experience in leading outdoor activities and/or organising promotional and educational activities
- Knowledge in the ecology of Hong Kong and other local environmental issues
- Species identification and ecological research skills (e.g. butterflies, dragonflies, plants) will definitely be an advantage.
This position bases in our headquarters in Mongkok. We offer a 5-day work week. Occasionally, you are required to work on Saturday, Sunday or public holidays; compensation
leave will be provided in such circumstances.
