This is a great role for someone who’s looking to deliver a progressive and innovative approach to product development to ensure we continually explore and offer product solutions that embrace new technologies and are designed to maximize manufacturing automation.  You will work with colleagues globally across Development Engineering, Production Engineering, Costing, Supply Chain, Creative teams in TMSW offices globally, as well as multiple tier vendors and suppliers. 

What you’ll bring to the TMSW

  • Provide leadership and overall direction to the product development team, driving innovation across the team.

  • Developing the team to ensure we have the right structures and skills in the right locations for today and for our future organization

  • Work closely with the creative agencies, model makers, tool makers, vendors and TMSW engineers to ensure we have an effective and collaborative development process

  • Responsible for the ‘Production Agency’ relationship with the Creative Agencies ensuring a smooth process from concept through to approved model, ensuring any innovative ideas are given full consideration.

  • Manage the relationship with the model makers agreeing business strategies that ensure they explore and invest in latest technologies that can improve the process i.e. improving client experience, reducing development lead-times etc.

  • Create a culture of ‘design for manufacture’ within the development teams where consideration for standardizing manufacturing techniques & increasing automation are a natural part of the development process as well as ensuring the approved model developments are value engineered to ensure the highest product value within the target price and to meet safety & quality requirements.

  • Adapt the process to ensure early engagement of vendors to capture their ideas and inputs ensuring the knowledge and technology within the system vendor base is optimized.

  • Support all ‘research & development’ activities to identify new technologies and innovations that can be applied to premium toys including proposals to establish relationships with inventors, scientists, sculptors etc.

  • Review and improve the development process challenging current lead-times to deliver speed to market or reduced tooling cost.

  • Work closely with the Manufacturing Continuous Improvement team to explore new technologies that should be adopted into the product design, including increasing focus on collecting manufacturing data and effective analysis to inform and drive strategy.

  • Support the development team in providing solutions to resolve issues identified 

Skills and experience you'll need to have 

  • At least 10 years of experience at management level, with great leadership skills and a track record of developing the team around you
  • Experience of modern product development techniques
  • An energetic, creative approach that encourages new innovative solutions
  • Experience of building and managing relationships across multiple international stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or relevant discipline
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with high proficiency in both written and spoken English and Mandarin
