Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The editorial team helps HKTB to produce quality publications and web, social media and mobile app content so as to support on-going marketing plans and projects. The Assistant Manager, Editorial, will support the team by providing a range of services from English language proofreading and editing to copywriting, original content creation and content vetting.
  • Take ownership of English-language business-as-usual editorial tasks, while supporting special projects.
  • Oversee English-language copyediting. Responsible for the maintenance of the English editorial style guide and its application to HKTB and partner content.
  • Collaborate closely with Chinese editors to ensure alignment of Chinese and English factual content.
  • Support Manager, Editorial in driving concept development and content direction for editorial projects.
  • Handle the content calendar, help to find content partners, support the Manager, Editorial, in directing partners to create content that is aligned with the content strategy.
  • Establish procedures to improve work efficiency and communications between the editorial team and internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct desktop research to enhance the quality of content.
  • Oversee the fitness-for-purpose of all English editorial content.


Requirements

  • University graduate, preferably with a major in Journalism/Public Relations/Communications/English Language.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in editorial or publishing. Editing experience in a marketing context would be an advantage.
  • Strong and comprehensive editing and writing skills e.g. copyediting, developmental edits, copywriting etc.
  • Versatile editing skills with the ability to tailor copy style to different platforms – e.g. trade publications, tourist guidebooks, destination website, TV advert scripts as well as a variety of audiences.
  • Good knowledge of Hong Kong, its tourism ‘products’ and the travel industry in general.
  • Native English speaker.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.
