THE JOB

The Hong Kong Sports Institute (“HKSI”) is the government’s designated elite sports training centre. Reporting to the Director, Elite Training Science & Technology (DETST), the Associate Director, Elite Training Science & Technology will be responsible for the following duties:

lDirectly supervise the work of the Scientific Conditioning, Nutrition and Psychology Centres;

lPrimary responsibility for performing regular benchmark reviews against local and overseas Institutions / Universities ensuring that HKSI’s elite training system are up-to-date and at the state-of-the-art;

lPrimary responsibility for specific programme implementation as required including scientific conferencing programme; exchange programme and research programme;

lAssist the DETST to prepare the Division’s Annual Plans, and the monitoring of progress and delivery of Key Performance Indicator’s (KPI) across the Division;

lAssist the DETST in the coordination of the publication and dissemination of the HKSI's applied research and technical publications;

lAssist the DETST in preparing documentation and papers and reporting to the HKSI Committees;

lDeputise for the DETST when required; and

lPerform any other appropriate duties as assigned by the DETST.

THE REQUIREMENTS

lA Masters degree in Sports Science/Sports Medicine or related fields. Candidates with a Doctoral degree in the relevant fields is an advantage;

lAt least 10 years’ experience with proven leadership skills in scientific/medical support services to elite athletes;

lAbility to lead and manage a team with different Professionals in the field of elite training;

lExperience in developing, monitoring and managing budgets;

lExcellence in team leadership;

lExcellent communication and analytical judgement, strong problem solving skills;

lGood command of spoken and written English; ability to speak and write Chinese (Cantonese and/or Putonghua) is an advantage.
