Job Description

Come build a unique career as a Preliminary Diamond Grader Trainee in our GIA Hong Kong Laboratory located in Kowloon Bay. You will work with diamonds, microscopes and computers in a laboratory production environment that emphasizes detail, quality and precision.

We offer an intensive three (3) month to (6) month paid training period that provides hands-on individualized training incorporating GIA Laboratory policies, procedures, and established guidelines in the documentation of pertinent data for the GIA Laboratory Diamond Grading Report.
 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the initial examination of diamonds submitted to the GIA Hong Kong Laboratory for Diamond Grading reports. 
  • Accurately identifies and documents clarity characteristics on a plot diagram, assigning polish, symmetry, clarity and color grades within the GIA Diamond Grading System. 
  • Applies constructive criticism to the diamond grading process. 
  • Participates in continual learning to improve grading skills and adapt procedural updates. 
  • Follows security procedures for handling diamonds. 
  • Communicates effectively, gets along with coworkers and management, and deals with others effectively and professionally under pressure. 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Form 7 graduated required with fluent English. 
  • Must be able to communicate in English (understand, read and write) and participate in training taught in English. 
  • Ability to work with microscopes. 
  • Detail-minded with good concentration skills. 
  • Effective communication and good interpersonal skills is a must. 
  • Well organized, responsible, mature & ability to work independently. 
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed.
