Job Description

The Innovation centre is a newly established team within Cathay Pacific's IT division. The team will focus on introducing and delivering new technologies into Cathay Pacific, with initial focus on Mobile, Web & Social Media solutions. As New Media & Mobility Design Manager you will work with a team to conceptualise and develop new innovative service offerings for our CX customers and productivity improvements for Operational Business Units.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist to Business Unit in the development of potential new ideas/opportunities for improvements to web, mobile and social media
  • Assist Account Managers to build consensus and support for new initiatives.
  • Engage with CX stakeholders to secure idea ”sponsors”, and assist on defining scope and plan in relation to web, mobile and social media IT projects.
  • Keep abreast of technologies in the social media , mobile and web technology adoption in businesses.
  • Develop and drive idea pre-incubation: create an innovation-selection framework, idea flow generation, screening of proposals, drafting and commercialization of proposals, and presenting proposals to senior level for decision-making.
  • Support the business to develop the business case for seed funding and project funding
  • Support the Architecture team to identify assess select and recommend innovative and new technologies
  • Work closely with users to understand customer requirements and subsequently drive the Innovation team to deliver changes based on these requirements. 
  • Liaise with Web & Mobile Development manager on the prototyping process, using resources from within the Innovation team and drawing upon their resources, as required.
  • Source and manage team, mentor and coach and work in a collaborative style to ensure the seamless delivery of the end-end service.


Job Requirements:

  • Relevant Business and IT experience in the application of Web, Mobile and Social media tools and technology.
  • A Business, IT or Marketing Degree
  • Experienced with website and user interface design, and the management of a team of designers, and UX experts.
  • Good commercial acumen with an appreciation of technological, strategic, financial impact in the areas of social media, web and mobility.
  • An excellent communicator, able to effectively present information to colleagues, customers, and suppliers formally and informally.
  • Ability to build relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to suggest new ideas and technologies into the Innovation Centre pipeline.
  • Results driven, and a creative thinker and entrepreneurial spirit, who proactively seeks new and innovative approaches.
  • Resourceful, self-motivated and comfortable operating without a high level of structure.
  • Solid experience in Agile/Scrum.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
