About the Role

The Product Engineer will mainly be responsible for product development of new model of Well# smart water refill station in terms of mechanical and electrical aspect from design stage to mass production stage. This Product Engineer will work closely with suppliers, manufacturers, project coordination team, I.T. team and laboratory, etc. He/she will stay in dynamic environment throughout the product development cycle and perform quick response to any technical and non-technical issues.

The Product Engineer will plays a critical role in partnering with Business Development Team and Client Experience Team in driving product and services excellence. The position will report directly to the Product Development Director.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development

• Lead and monitor new product development projects including design, costing, prototyping, tooling, testing, scheduling, pilot-run, and mass production with support from China factory
• To coordinate with different stakeholders including but not limited to suppliers, project co-ordination team, QA, lab and logistics to ensure on-time product deliveries
• Source sheet metal manufacturer and perform capability evaluation
• Evaluate sheet metal component design for optimizing quality and cost efficiency
• Review mechanical and electrical designs and provide technical support, input on safety, quality and manufacturability of products
• Handle procurement process from quotation to timely delivery
• Work with suppliers and quality team for problem analysis and problem solving for the non-conformance
• Evaluate engineering pilot samples and provide modification directions
• Provide cost-time-feature trade-off directions and determine tooling optimization
• Conduct appropriate reports or progress update and issue follow-up
• Organize traceable records of payment, drawing, specifications, schedule and engineering changes

Product Research

• Conduct product and component sourcing, testing and evaluation to improve our services completeness
• Conduct research on product or components or product functions in the market that variable for benchmarking
• Perform research and make assessment of cost and benefits analysis for different options / scenario on design concepts, product function / feature, material etc.
• Build library of product marketing research for future reference.

Desired experience and skills

• Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
• At least 5 years experience in product design and development in manufacturing environment
• Good knowledge of safety standard and certification of electrical products
• Experience in sheet metal forming processes and tooling fabrication
• Have good contact with sheet metal manufacturers
• Experience in developing cooling system or food processing products will be advantage
• Knowledge of drinking water quality is welcome
• Capability in understanding BOM, schematic diagram & 3D drawing
• Good command of English and Mandarin
• Self-motivated, proactive and positive attitude. Excellent time management skills. Strong sense of responsibility
• Occasional travel to China is required
